Words from Hope part one #3
The outskirts of Jerusalem
Words and music: Einar Langseth
I came to town, in the afternoon.
Seeking haven in the gloom.
The streets where packed, no vacancy, no shelter.
Craving masses tagged along.
Whispering deals and pressing on.
Telling me to live it up, and by absolution later.
Step by step, I´ ll take myself
I stumble ´ round, I fall to the grown.
on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Money talk: "enjoy your stay.
All is yours if you can pay.
It´ s all for sale come quench your last desire.
I´ ll read your palm sir, and I´ ll read the stars.
Sing lullabies down in the bars."
I´ ll stick around till morning comes
Then I´ ll be up and gone.
Step by step, I´ ll take myself
I stumble ´ round, I fall the grown.
on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Raving lost, to be found.
Where it ended, and begun
On the outskirts of Jerusalem
The buzzing sound, of all the voices.
The back and forth, between the choices
How much more? How long until the mysteries unfold?
How long? How long? How long?
Step by step, I´ ll take myself
I stumble ´round, I fall the grown.
on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Raving lost, to be found.
Where it ended, and begun
On the outskirts of Jerusalem
One of these days
When a troubled haunted mind
finally, can find its rest beyond the boundaries of time.
And find its peace at last, beyond the past.
Illness, death, and poverty,
lonely souls are haunted round within the mind's complexity.
Someday, every fall will fall to rest.
One of these days, the son will break through the veils.
Confirm who he claimed to be.
Appearing for all to see.
One of these days.
There were crazy waterfalls.
There were dizzy turns and now and then a calm and quite pond.
With no knowledge of what was to come.
See the river in reverse,
floating back into the source, back up the steepest waterfalls.
Like a child it runs, into open arms.
One of these days, the son will break through the veils.
Confirm who he claimed to be.
Appearing for all to see.
One of these days.
One of these days I´´ ll come running home.
One of these days I´ ll come running home.
